In 2011, the FDA required opioid manufacturers to provide education for health providers who prescribe their pain medications — but didn’t mention chiropractic care or acupuncture in its initial blueprint for what that education ought to look like. Now, the agency is seeking to give prescribers more information on a broader range of approaches to manage pain, including non-pharmacologic therapies.

WE NOW OFFER

RADIAL SHOCK WAVE THERAPY!

Has your doctor prescribed physical therapy or suggested you have surgery to stop your pain? PT takes weeks and hours of your precious time. Surgeries are invasive and often require rehabilitation and weeks of healing. Sometimes, neither correct the problem, and may even create a new one. Deductibles and copays add up and can cost you hundreds out-of-pocket. We have an alternative that is FDA approved, and can save you time and even money, and it WORKS! Here's how:

Accelerate Healing With Pressure Wave Therapy

There are no side effects with this non surgical treatment and it is available at a reasonable cost. Pressure wave treatments are non invasive and promote accelerated recovery of injured soft tissue, bone, heel and joint pain. A pressure wave is an intense, but very short energy wave traveling faster than the speed of sound. The basic technology involved with extracorporeal pressure wave technology has been used for decades on millions of people. Therapy sessions are short, usually 4 – 5 minutes in length, and provide successful relief of chroni pain and restore mobility painlessly. Permanent relief typically begins about 72 hours following treatment.

How pressure wave technology really works:

Technology

Pressure wave therapy is a modern and highly effective treatment method: high-energy sound waves are introduced into the painful areas of the body. With this innovative therapy approach, pathological alterations of tendons, ligaments, capsules, muscles and bones can be eliminated systematically.

science_howitworks-benefitsBenefits

There are numerous benefits from pressure wave technology. • Non-Surgical • No Side Effects • Accelerated Healing • Ease Of Use • Affordable

The beneficial effects of pressure wave therapy are often experienced after only 1 or 2 treatments. The therapy eliminates pain and restores full mobility, thus improving your quality of lif

Pressure wave technology accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area. These pulses occur for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles penetrates tissue and stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing. In many instances, pressure wave technology is most effective in cases where the human body has not been able to heal itself on its own.

RECENT STUDIES OF OMEGA 3 AND PROSTRATE HEALTH

Comments from Physician Recommended Nutriceuticals

PRN is extremely proud of its history of product formulation and dosing based in sound evidence and peer-reviewed clinical nutritional science. As a leader in clinical nutrition, we have been pleased to observe that research has recently been expanding to include studies that are nutritionally focused. However, many of these studies are not always conducted using a prospective approach and measured against a control group. These studies while scientifically flawed may be interpreted by the media to be "newsworthy" especially when the conclusions can be sensationalized.

The most recent example of this type of activity applies to the article "Plasma Phospholipid Fatty Acids and Prostate Cancer Risk in the SELECT Trial" published ahead of print in The Journal of the National Cancer Institute. This incredibly flawed study has created a firestorm in the media and has had quite an impact on the general public. We have seen similar events in the past and it has always been the policy of the Medical Division at PRN to "let the dust settle a little" while we take a deeper dive into the data. In the ensuing days and months we will be following that process and will be sharing a grounded and well-researched review of evidence in this regard from unbiased sources. That said, I did want to share with you today the peer-reviewed commentary that was posted yesterday from the Global Organization of EPA and DHA (GOED) which commented on the aforementioned study's experimental design, results, and takeaways on "what you should know." I am attaching this document without further comment but would urge you to first read the study abstract on the left side and then carefully review the bullet points on the right side of the document. I believe these highlights will speak for themselves.

As always.............yours in good health,

You can still reach us on our old phone and fax numbers, 215-230-8100 ph & 215-230-8892 fax.  We apologize for any inconvenience the delay in phone connection may have caused.  Thanks for the  many calls we received on the alternate phone number provided on this site, face book and through emails. We are pleased that  at least some of you were able to reach us. Many of you are still dealing with power outages, or other challenges related to last week's hurricane and this week's Northeaster, so when you are ready and able to come for treatment, please know that we are up and running and fully functional.

We are In - Phones are OUT

As fellow Pennsylvanians and our neighbors in New Jersey and New York continue to deal with the Super Storm of 2012, we hope all our friends are safe where ever they are! We know many of you are still without power, are isolated by downed trees, and are still suffering with the challenges caused by the high winds and rain from Sandy. Our thoughts are with you all, and we hope you and your loved ones are all safe and managing the challenges!

It's no surprise that our move was also impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Despite being without power, we did our very best to move into Hyde Park and open on Nov 1. We got in on time, but unfortunately, we missed our window with Verizon to reconnect our phone lines at our new home, or forward the phones to an existing cell phone.

The first available re-connect date is the morning of Tuesday Nov 6. Until then, please use this temporary alternate phone number for scheduling or changing appointments:

215-xxx-xxxx

After Tuesday, our old number will be reconnected,

215-230-8100.

We invite all of our friends to stop in for a tour of our new, beautiful facility in the days to come. Can't wait to show you our new home.

Stay safe and out of harms way during this dangerous weather event!

Does this sound like you?

During the summer of 2010 I found it increasingly difficult to sustain my yoga practice, and I experienced what I call “shazzams” often enough to be alarming.  These “shazzams” are sharp, electrifying pains that immobilize me momentarily and impede my ability to flex and twist.  I am an active retired teacher used to gardening and going to the gym and adventure traveling with my husband. I knew I had to investigate this increasingly debilitating problem.

In September of 2010 I was diagnosed with a herniated disc.  The diagnosis was made through an MRI ordered by an orthopedic physician who had been recommended to me by another physician.  The diagnosis was conveyed to me via voicemail, along with the direction to call another medical practice to schedule an epidural injection of cortisone at a hospital 25 miles from my home.  This impersonal generic response to my diagnosis irritated me.  Okay, herniated discs are a dime a dozen; lots of people in their 60s have worn-out backs, and lots of people get these epidurals.  I was no doubt an unexceptional patient for this physician.  But I have had few medical problems in my life, and for me this was an exceptional experience.  I wanted to be treated personally, and I wanted some choices.....Jeannine M., Furlong, Pa

Yes. JP calls it Scalp-Acupuncture.

While you are relaxing with stim, heat, ice, ultra-sound, or decompression, you can reach a deeper, more profound sense of sedation and relaxation just by adding this painless procedure.

It is only $25 more when you add this service at the same time as your chiropractic visit.

Feedback from patients who have given it a try is 100% positive!

"So relaxing”, "I feel amazing when I leave" , "That was great!", "So affordable, I would be crazy not to do it".

Fact: Acupuncture is often prescribed by physicians to help people over come needle phobia.

TMJ - Combined Treatment

Has your dentist or doctor diagnosed you with TMJ,
temporomandibular joints? If so, they may or may not know about the highly effective and complimentary treatments that specialized Chiropractic care and Acupuncture can provide. Your dentist has many solutions for the symptoms of TMJ, but at WIT, we can help decrease your pain and discomfort further by treating the root causes of the problem.

I was certified in TMJ rehabilitation by Dr. Mariano Rocabado, DPT in 2009. At that time, I received advanced Craniomandibular & Cervical Physiopatholgy training. Currently, 1 out of every 10 patients in my practice is being successfully treated for this common problem.

If you have had a TMJ evaluation by a dentist specially trained
in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ, you may wish to consult with me as well. In addition to removable dental orthotics and TENSing which help allow the muscles to relax around the joints and correct your bite, Chiropractic can help realign the jaw, while Acupuncture helps the body to maintain a correct jaw position.

To find out if you are suffering from TMJ, or to learn how Wagner Integrative Therapies can work with your dental professional to relieve the pain of TMJ, call now to schedule an evaluation.

September 9, 2010:
Is Chiropractic Care a Visionary Form of Health-Care Reform?
Health care in the 21st Century should be innovative, state-of-the-art, accessible to all, and comprehensive. Too often, I meet patients suffering from chronic or debilitating pain who are uninsured, underinsured, or whose insurance does not recognize the value of chiropractic services.  This is especially true for seniors who often have many needs and who are frequently well served by treatments such as Spinal Decompression Therapy.  Research supports the benefits of this and other chiropractic therapies, yet some insurances still do not cover these affordable procedures.

It is my hope that trends are shifting. They should. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, I see myself as more than a treatment option, but also as an adjunctive coordinator, dedicated to guiding every patient in the direction of improved wellbeing, which sometimes means referring to other practitioners. After 15 years of advocating for my patients, I have earned the trust of medical doctors and therapists by developing a strong cooperative relationship with practitioners in my community. Outcome is my only priority. Health care reform that acknowledges the improved health benefits of chiropractic care will allow me and others to work more cooperatively with medical doctors to reduce the cost of health care in the long run.

Recently, a patient who is also a friend sent me this article. I think it has important information worth sharing with you. Here is Part 1 from “Why Doctors Hate Chiropractors”, from www.bottomlinesecrets.com  which sheds light on the misconceptions surrounding the role of chiropractic physicians in the system we call “Health Care”. The author is not noted in the online version of the article, but the source is the renowned Robert A. Hayden, DC, PhD, founder and director of Iris City Chiropractic Center, PC, Griffin, Georgia, and spokesperson for the American Chiropractic Association.
